Midland Press is a Birmingham-based winery dedicated to the evolution of English wine.

Founded in 2024 by Richard Stenton, our production is housed within the atmospheric, temperature-stable environment of a central city railway arch.

We have built a reputation for our signature light reds and textured, lees-driven whites, which are now featured at the finest dining tables, boutique bars, and independent wine shops throughout Birmingham and further afield.

Grapes

We search out the highest quality and most compelling grapes from across the middle of England. We are lucky to work with pioneering and talented growers who have chosen optimum sites in beautiful English countryside for the planting and careful tending of their vines.

Midland press has a particular focus on Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc & Chardonnay. We also incorporate hybrid varieties that have a long history of small scale planting across the midlands.

Winemaking

Through our winemaking practices we are perfecting wine styles that shine in the marginal climate of England and that support us to bring a minimal intervention approach to the process.

Our small batch production enables a more hands on approach to our winemaking. The wines are fermented in barrels or small tanks and then aged on the lees. we hand blend from these small batches for our final products. All wines are bottled in-house, unfined and unfiltered by hand.
